Mr. Teguh Suroso began his career shortly after graduating from the Physics undergraduate program at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Diponegoro University in 1995. He joined PT Elnusa as a Junior Seismologist in January 1996, gaining valuable early experience in seismic data analysis—an essential component in oil and gas exploration. With strong motivation and a desire for continual growth, he advanced his career by joining the multinational company Schlumberger-WesternGeco in Kuala Lumpur for three years, broadening his expertise and perspective in the field of geophysics.
Following his international experience, Mr. Teguh joined Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a Pertamina subsidiary focused on upstream oil and gas operations. His career at PHE progressed steadily until he became the Chief Innovation Geophysicist, a role in which he leads geophysical innovation to support exploration activities. Beyond the industry, he pursued a Master’s degree in Reservoir Engineering at the University of Indonesia and later earned a Doctorate in Geophysics from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). He also teaches at the postgraduate level and is active as a supervisor, guest speaker, and professional assessor.
The fundamental knowledge he gained during his time at FSM UNDIP was instrumental in building both his scientific foundation and mental resilience. Encouragement from lecturers, senior students, and peers at FSM UNDIP played a vital role in helping him overcome various challenges in his professional journey. He believes that the demanding situations and pressure he faced during his studies sharpened his problem-solving skills and mental toughness—qualities that have proven invaluable in the working world.
Mr. Teguh reminds students to always work with clear goals and to push beyond their perceived limits continually. He believes that staying focused on one’s goals and moving forward consistently will pave the way to success.
