Mr. Rohmat Hidayatuloh is an alumnus of the Physics undergraduate program at FSM UNDIP, class of 2004, who graduated in 2011. His college journey was far from easy. Due to financial constraints, he had to fund his education and graduate in his 13th semester. Despite the challenges, he remained committed to graduating with a GPA above 3.00. He took as many cross-disciplinary elective courses as possible—earning more than 215 credits in total, even though only 144 were officially recorded on his transcript.
After graduation, Mr. Rohmat experienced some career uncertainty and worked at a startup for two years. His turning point came in 2013 when he joined the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) under the Ministry of Finance, then a newly established and relatively unknown institution. Over time, he built his career within LPDP and now serves as a Senior Risk Management Analyst. LPDP itself has grown tremendously, from initially managing Rp1 trillion in endowment funds to over Rp150 trillion, supporting hundreds of thousands of scholarship recipients.
The foundational knowledge he gained at FSM UNDIP—thanks in part to the broad range of courses he took—proved vital when he was entrusted with managing strategic research funding. These include projects on electric vehicles, advanced materials, defence technologies, and renewable energy sources. Beyond academics, his extensive organizational involvement—as class representative, student association member, student activity unit member, and ultimately President of BEM FSM—helped him develop essential skills in leadership, communication, and problem-solving that have contributed significantly to his professional journey.
Mr. Rohmat’s achievements further affirm his impact and dedication, including winning 1st Place in the LPDP Vision-Mission Competition (2024), being named Best Graduate of the Master’s Program in Technology Management at ITS (with a GPA of 4.00), and earning numerous writing and blogging awards since his university days. He offers this reflection to FSM UNDIP students: the university is not only about instruction and facilities, but also about how to maximize your environment as a place to grow. “At FSM, I learned from many people—not just the lecturers, but also the lab assistants, staff, and even the cleaning personnel. All of them contributed to shaping my life values and career,” he said.
