The Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) at Universitas Diponegoro held a Manuscript Bootcamp themed “Collaborative Submission to Reputable International Journals Indexed by Scopus” on Monday, July 8, 2025, at the 6th Floor of Acintya Prasada Building, FSM Undip. The event was attended by the majority of FSM faculty members as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students aiming to submit reputable scientific articles.

This activity is part of the faculty’s strategy to support the improvement of academic publication performance among FSM lecturers. Through this bootcamp, each faculty member is expected to prepare and complete at least two high-quality scientific manuscripts for submission to reputable journals, either as the first or second author, by collaborating with partners from both national and international universities.

The event was officially opened by the Dean of FSM Undip, who expressed great appreciation for the presence of the participating lecturers.
“I am truly impressed and proud of your attendance. Your presence today boosts our optimism in achieving the faculty’s target — that each lecturer publishes at least two papers, as first or second author, through collaboration with national or international universities,” he said. He further emphasized that this activity reflects FSM Undip’s commitment to achieving institutional targets in academic publication performance.

The event continued with a keynote presentation by Prof. Adi Darmawan, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D, a lecturer from the Department of Chemistry and Head of the Chemistry Department at FSM Undip. In his presentation titled “Submitting Manuscripts to Reputable International Journals”, Prof. Adi explained key strategies, from selecting the right journal and writing according to the author guidelines, to navigating the submission process and post-submission follow-up.

He also highlighted the importance of avoiding predatory journals and encouraged the use of tools such as reference managers and plagiarism checkers. With a Scopus h-index of 17, 88 indexed documents, and over 790 citations, he shared insights from his international publications over the past four years, showcasing his productivity in the field of inorganic materials chemistry.

Following the keynote session, the event proceeded with an intensive manuscript mentoring workshop involving reviewers from each department, namely:

  • Dr. Widowati, S.Si., M.Si. (Mathematics)
  • Budi Waristo, S.Si., M.Si. (Statistics)
  • Adi Darmawan, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D (Chemistry)
  • Retno Kumalasari, S.Si., M.Kom. (Informatics)
  • Dr. Tri Retnaningsih Soeprobowati, M.AppSc (Biology)
  • Eng. Ali Khumaeni, S.Si., M.Eng. (Physics)

In this session, participants received one-on-one guidance on their manuscript drafts (with at least 80% content completion), aiming for submission to Scopus-indexed reputable journals. Each participant was also required to involve one student or research assistant as part of a continuous research collaboration effort.

FSM Undip hopes that the Manuscript Bootcamp will serve as a concrete step toward increasing international publications, strengthening inter-institutional academic collaboration, and fostering a culture of scientific writing within the academic community.
