Semarang, July 2, 2025 – The Department of Statistics, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University (FSM UNDIP), reaffirmed its commitment to fostering an international academic atmosphere by organizing an online Visiting Professor event. The session featured international speaker Dr. Sourav Das from the School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Curtin University, Australia.

The event began at 09.00 AM WIB and was officially opened by Dr. Adi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si., Vice Dean for Resources at FSM UNDIP, who expressed appreciation for the cross-country academic collaboration initiative and highlighted the importance of data-driven research in addressing global challenges.

In the main session, Dr. Sourav Das delivered a presentation titled “Monitoring the Risk of a Tailings Dam Collapse Through Spectral Analysis of Satellite InSAR Time-Series Data.” He explained a monitoring approach that utilizes spectral analysis of InSAR satellite time-series data to provide early warning signals of potential tailings dam failure. This method integrates advanced data processing with uncertainty assessment, making it a strategic tool for disaster risk mitigation.

The session was interactive and moderated by Ms. Rahmila Dapa, M.Sc. Participants engaged actively in discussions and posed insightful questions, enriching their understanding of spatial data processing and its environmental monitoring applications.

The event concluded with a certificate presentation to the speaker and a group photo session held virtually. The successful implementation of this program further reinforces FSM UNDIP’s commitment to delivering world-class academic activities and expanding international networks.

FSM UNDIP will continue to promote global collaboration and knowledge dissemination as part of its mission to become a World Class University.
