Semarang, August 29, 2025 – The Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University (FSM UNDIP) successfully held a Sharing Session with Alumni Diaspora virtually via Zoom. The event featured three FSM alumni who are now pursuing careers on the international stage and shared their experiences in study, research, and the global workforce.
The speakers included Ade Fajrian, S.Si., M.Sc., currently working at HCLTECH in Poland, who shared his journey of adapting to international work cultures and opportunities in the field of information technology. Meanwhile, Puti Cresti Ekacitta, S.Si., M.Sc., now serving as an International Energy Analyst at Ion Venture in London and also a staff member at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, highlighted issues of energy transition and the crucial role of young generations. Dr. Eng. Nur Hamid, S.Si., M.Kom., a postdoctoral researcher at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, provided insights into opportunities for further study, international research, and the importance of building academic networks.
The enthusiasm of FSM students was evident, with hundreds of participants from various study programs joining virtually. The discussion ran interactively, covering topics ranging from scholarships and life abroad to strategies for competing in a global environment.
In his remarks, Dr. Eng. Adi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Kom., Vice Dean II of FSM UNDIP, expressed his appreciation to the alumni diaspora for taking the time to share their experiences. He emphasized that although conducted online, the event still successfully motivated students to look forward to international career and self-development opportunities.
In his presentation, Ade Fajrian stressed that adaptability is the key to success when working abroad. He shared his personal experiences in overcoming language and cultural barriers, which ultimately became valuable lessons. According to him, the courage to step out of one’s comfort zone is an essential step for students to discover new opportunities and develop their potential in diverse environments.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nur Hamid encouraged students to actively build international networks. He emphasized that the future of energy and scientific progress relies heavily on innovation and cross-border collaboration. With strong capabilities and great potential, Indonesian students are believed to be able to make real contributions, provided they continue to hone their competencies and expand their global connections.
FSM UNDIP hopes that this event will not only serve as a platform for sharing experiences but also inspire new enthusiasm among students as they embark on their academic and professional journeys. Through the stories of alumni diaspora, students are expected to gain greater confidence to compete globally, dare to dream big, and consistently sharpen their skills. The faculty also underlined the importance of building international networks as a key asset in facing increasingly competitive future challenges.
