Visit from MAN 1 Tegal to FSM UNDIP: Introducing Campus Life and Preparing for Higher Education

The Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) of Universitas Diponegoro welcomed a visit from Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 1 Tegal on Monday, 26 January 2026, at the 6th floor of the Acintya Prasada Building, FSM UNDIP, Tembalang. The activity aimed to provide students with essential information regarding university life, admission pathways, and the academic culture within higher education as they prepare for their future studies.

The event began with remarks from Oki Ade Putra, M.Si., Coordinator of Academic and Student Affairs at FSM UNDIP, who emphasized the importance of the transition period between high school and university. He reminded students not to overlook this phase, but instead utilize it to develop achievements that will support their readiness for university-level learning. He highlighted that at Universitas Diponegoro, academic development is oriented toward achievement, and therefore students who make the most of this transitional period will be better prepared to compete in the next academic stage. This reaffirmed that pursuing higher education at UNDIP can be a strategic choice when supported by proper preparation.

From the school’s side, welcoming remarks were delivered by Dr. Kasturi, M.Pd., Principal of MAN 1 Tegal, who explained that the purpose of the visit was to introduce students to the academic culture of universities. She expressed her hopes that the explanations provided would include admission mechanisms and scholarship opportunities, ensuring that students gain sufficient understanding to plan their future studies. She also requested that UNDIP deliver information comprehensively so students can properly understand the requirements and procedures for entering UNDIP, including opportunities to study at FSM as a faculty that plays an important role in scientific and academic development.

The main session featured a presentation on the profile of Universitas Diponegoro and FSM by Satriawan Rasyid Purnama, S.Kom., M.Cs., Coordinator of Information Technology at FSM UNDIP. The presentation introduced the structure of the university, undergraduate academic programs, and campus facilities such as the integrated laboratories, teaching hospital, and student activity units that support both academic and non-academic development. In accordance with its scientific character, students were also introduced to the seven undergraduate programs at FSM, namely Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Physics, Informatics, and Statistics—each offering distinct academic focus and scientific orientations. The session further explained university admission pathways including SNBP, SNBT, Independent Selection, and the Outstanding Talent Selection program, as well as scholarship schemes such as KIP-K and institutional scholarships.

The discussion session was lively and engaging. Students enthusiastically asked questions regarding scholarships, academic preparation before university, and potential study fields in science and technology available at FSM UNDIP. Additional questions focused on admission procedures and strategies for preparing to compete in university selection processes. Their enthusiasm reflected a strong interest in learning more about university life and demonstrated readiness to consider higher education as part of their future plans.

Through this visit, FSM UNDIP hopes to maintain good relations with MAN 1 Tegal while supporting students in planning their academic futures. FSM also welcomes initiatives from schools in preparing students for university education and looks forward to future academic collaboration.
