The Master’s Program in Physics at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Diponegoro University, recently underwent an on-site accreditation assessment conducted by the Independent Accreditation Body for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA). The two-day visit took place on Monday and Tuesday, April 28–29, 2025, at the 6th Floor Auditorium of the Acintya Prasada Building, FSM UNDIP.
The assessment was attended by the faculty leadership, quality assurance team leaders and members, laboratory managers, as well as representatives of alumni and graduate users. The two assessors present were Prof. Drs. Arinto Yudi Ponco Wardoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. from Universitas Brawijaya, and Dr. rer. nat. Sparisoma Viridi, M.Sc. from Institut Teknologi Bandung.
The first day began with an opening session that included the introduction of the assessors and welcoming remarks from university and faculty leadership. In his opening speech, Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Heru Susanto, ST, MM, MT, emphasized that accreditation is not merely an administrative evaluation but an opportunity to enhance educational quality. The Dean of FSM UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Kusworo Adi, S.Si., M.T, also extended his warm welcome to the assessors and expressed hope that the on-site assessment would serve as a valuable moment for constructive feedback. One of the assessors, Prof. Arinto, appreciated the readiness of the Master’s Program in Physics and highlighted the importance of providing concrete documentation throughout the assessment process.
The first day continued with sessions involving the UPPS leadership and quality assurance units, confirmation of data from the Program Performance Report (LKPS) with the accreditation team, discussions with middle management, and meetings with students, alumni, and graduate users—both in-person and online. Additional sessions included interviews with administrative staff and laboratory technicians as part of the academic operational review.
The second day focused on interviews with faculty members not involved in the accreditation task force, followed by a site visit to supporting facilities such as laboratories, faculty offices, scientific information services, and other infrastructure. The assessors then conducted an independent session to draft the assessment report and formulate recommendations. These were reviewed and confirmed with the UPPS and university leadership before the report was formally signed to conclude the on-site assessment.
Through a spirit of collaboration and openness to evaluation, FSM UNDIP demonstrated its strong commitment to maintaining the quality of higher education. This accreditation serves not only as an institutional requirement but also as a strategic opportunity to strengthen academic practices and governance. It is hoped that this assessment will lead the Master’s Program in Physics toward achieving an “Excellent” rating, while also laying the foundation for continuous quality improvement in the future.
