Ms. Dwita Srihapsari began her journey in the Master of Chemistry program at FSM UNDIP in 2019, supported by a scholarship from the Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police. As a forensic chemistry examiner at the Central Java Police Forensic Laboratory, she has continuously sharpened her scientific skills to support investigations based on scientific crime investigation. Despite the Pandemic disrupting access to laboratories, Ms. Dwita completed her studies in 2022. The Master of Science degree she earned became a crucial asset in advancing her career in forensic laboratories.

Since joining the Central Java Police, Ms. Dwita has been involved in various major cases requiring in-depth chemical analysis. Among them were the revelation of a murder case involving a money-multiplying shaman in Magelang (2021), a mass poisoning incident at a Purbalingga orphanage (2025), and the death of a civil servant from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights after a silicone injection in Sleman (2024). In each case, Ms. Dwita employed data-driven approaches and forensic chemical analysis methods to uncover hidden facts behind physical evidence, such as chemical residue, body fluids, and traces of heavy metals.

Beyond investigation work, Ms. Dwita actively participates in various training and seminars related to forensic science. In 2023, she had the opportunity to speak at the National Seminar on Forensic Chemistry in Surabaya, where she shared her experiences on identifying hazardous chemicals in criminal cases. She also underwent training at Puslabfor Bareskrim Polri, focusing on the development of spectrophotometry- and chromatography-based analysis methods for detecting hazardous substances in biological samples.

The knowledge and experience gained at FSM UNDIP played a pivotal role in Ms. Dwita’s career journey. In addition to the fundamentals of forensic chemistry, she earned a broad understanding of laboratory analysis techniques that proved effective in supporting complex investigations. Support from her academic advisors and the availability of well-equipped laboratories were key factors in completing her thesis despite limited access during the Pandemic. According to her, the ability to think critically, analyse data systematically, and maintain precision in sample examination are the core skills she developed during her studies.

To FSM UNDIP students, Ms. Dwita offers this message: never hesitate to dream big and pursue opportunities with courage. University life is not just about academics—it is also an opportunity to expand your network, discover your potential, and develop the resilience necessary for the professional world. “Believe in your abilities, keep learning, and enjoy every step of the journey,” she says. “From campus, we can shape a brighter future through knowledge and dedication.”
