As part of the World Class University (WCU) Program, the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University (FSM UNDIP) held an online Visiting Professor session on Thursday, June 13, 2025, featuring an Indonesian diaspora researcher from France. The event was organized by the Department of Physics and the Doctoral Program in Science and Mathematics FSM UNDIP, aimed at enhancing research quality and strengthening international academic networks.
The webinar featured Dr. Achmad Fajar Putranto, M.Sc., Ph.D. from the Laboratoire des Technologies de la Microélectronique (LTM), Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), France. The event was opened and moderated by Prof. Dr. Heri Sutanto, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the Department of Physics, and was attended by dozens of participants including students, lecturers, and professionals.
In his presentation, Dr. Fajar discussed cutting-edge topics on high-resolution lithography based on block copolymers (BCP) and their potential applications in microelectronics and Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS). He explained the Directed Self-Assembly (DSA) process of polystyrene-block-poly(1,1-dimethylsilacyclobutane) (PS-b-PDMSB) materials to produce nano-patterns with sub-10 nm resolution and high efficiency.
The study demonstrated how plasma chemical treatment and topographical substrate design can precisely guide the formation of BCP structures while supporting the fabrication of nanoscale gold structures for enhanced molecular detection in SERS applications. These findings show great promise for future applications in sensor technology, photonics, and next-generation microelectronic devices.
Furthermore, Dr. Fajar emphasized that BCP techniques offer cost efficiency and accessibility, making them a promising future solution for lithography—especially relevant for development in Indonesia. His participation in the FSM UNDIP guest lecture program is expected to open new opportunities for collaborative research and increase student exposure to global nanotechnology trends.
FSM UNDIP hopes that through this Visiting Professor program, the academic community will gain broader insight into advanced technologies, while also expanding opportunities for impactful international research collaborations in science and mathematics. The presence of speakers from leading global institutions is also expected to strengthen FSM UNDIP’s position in building a globally recognized reputation focused on quality and collaboration.
