The Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University (FSM UNDIP), held a Media Engagement Workshop on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Room 401, 4th Floor, Acintya Prasada Building, FSM UNDIP. The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Resources of FSM UNDIP, Dr. Eng. Adi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Kom.

The workshop featured Satriawan Rasyid Purnama, S.Kom., M.Cs., a lecturer from the Department of Informatics FSM UNDIP, as the main speaker. In his presentation, he delivered the material “ChatGPT Tutorial: Prompt Optimization”, which highlighted the use of artificial intelligence, particularly ChatGPT, as a supporting tool for scientific communication and publication in the mass media.

The materials presented covered the concept of prompt engineering with various patterns such as S.T.A.R., C.R.E.A.T.E., Few Shot, Chain-of-Thought, and ReAct. Satriawan also explained how Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) can be utilized to integrate external data into AI-generated responses, resulting in outputs that are more accurate, relevant, and contextual.

Beyond theoretical explanations, participants engaged in discussions and practical exercises on designing effective prompts to maximize ChatGPT’s role in disseminating research findings to the public. According to him, mastering prompt techniques enables academics to communicate scientific messages more effectively in mass media while maintaining the quality of information being published.

The workshop was attended by lecturers and researchers from FSM UNDIP and received positive feedback. Through this activity, FSM UNDIP hopes to strengthen the capacity of its academic community in disseminating research outputs through mass media, thereby enhancing the faculty’s contribution to knowledge openness for the wider public.

FSM UNDIP consistently encourages the use of digital technology to support the three pillars of higher education—education, research, and community service—particularly in the area of publication and community engagement, in line with the university’s vision of becoming a world-class institution actively contributing to sustainable development.
