Undip MF-Kedaireka Team Spreads Seeds in KJABB-IMTA in the Karimunjawa Utilization Zone

fsm.undip.ac.id-Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) of Diponegoro University (Undip) distributed fish seeds, in Karimunjawa, Monday, September 6, 2021 as a follow-up to a series of Indonesian Sovereignty Matching Fund programs for Creation (MF-Kedaireka) 2021. The seeds to be stocked are white snapper (lates calcarifer), star pomfret (trachinotus blochil), and beautiful grouper (hybrid Epinephelus microdon X E. polyphekadion).

Fish seeds are distributed in Multi-Travel Floating Floating Net Cages (KJABB) Integrated Multi Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) system, an innovative work, Chief Executive of MF-Kedaireka, Prof. Sapto P. Putro PhD, who is also the Head of the Laboratory of the Center of Marine Biomonitoring for Sustainable Aquaculture (Ce-MEBSA) Undip.

Prof. Sapto P Putro said that currently eight IMTA KJABB have been made with a diameter of 6 meters from the planned total of 10 units which are planned to be installed in the coordinates at the end of November 2021.

“The presence of this modern IMTA KJABB in the utilization zone is expected to be able to complement some traditional floating net cages, which were previously installed by local residents. It is hoped that the IMTA KJABB will be a pilot for the concept of modern cultivation that still prioritizes the carrying capacity of the regional environment,” he explained.

Furthermore, according to him, apart from being a research facility, cultivation productivity will continue to be monitored and the results can be utilized by Pokdakan partner Lody Karimunjawa, as direct beneficiaries for the welfare of the local Karimunjawa community.

The Dean of FSM Undip, Prof. Dr. Widowati who was also a member of the team who was also present on the occasion, said that this activity is a means of realizing smart modern aquaculture, this innovative work of KJABB IMTA is a field laboratory which is expected to be a research facility for lecturers and students across study programs. .

”Especially the cultivation zone as a place for the development of applicable research on the use of the area that prioritizes conservation principles and is environmentally sound,” he explained.

As is known, the MF Kedaireka program, FSM Undip has also fielded a number of students in the Karimunjawa National Park Center (BTN) area, which has been started since September 10, 2021.

These students participate in the acceleration program for the implementation of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) to be converted into several academic activities, including thematic Real Work Lectures (KKN), final assignments, practical work, and relevant courses.

“Since its invention, the KJABB-IMTA application has been in collaboration with various parties, including the Thousand Islands Fisheries and Marine Service Sub-dept., DKI Jakarta, Marine and Fisheries Service, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands, Marine Aquaculture Development Center, Batam, and the Marine Service. and Fisheries of Central Java Province. The current implementation in the Karimunjawa Archipelago utilization zone is monitored and coordinated with the Karimunjawa National Park Office,” explained Prof. Sapto P Putro.
