Semarang, February 5, 2025. The Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) of Diponegoro University (Undip) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT St. Morita Farma on February 5, 2025 at Acintya Prasada Building, 4th floor. The signing was carried out directly by the Dean of Undip FSM, Prof. Dr. Kusworo Adi, MT, and the CEO of PT. St. Morita Farma, Drs. Maruap Siahaan M.B.A. On this occasion, the Deputy Dean of Academic, Dr. Ngadiwiyana; Deputy Dean of Cooperation and Resources, Dr. Adi Wibowo; Coordinator of RGA Cooperation, Zaenal Arifin MSi, Research Coordinator Prof. Yayuk Astuti, PhD. Prof. Dr. Parsaoran Siahaan, M.Si, and Prof. Dr. Dwi Hudiyanti, M.Sc., were also present from the Department of Chemistry.
In his remarks, the Dean of FSM hoped that this signing would begin strategic cooperation between academics and business/industry (DuDI) in Undip FSM. Not to forget, the Dean of FSM also welcomed the efforts to develop technology in cosmetic products that will be carried out together with PT. St. Morita Farma hopes the research process will continue until it can produce commercial products together. The cooperation was also welcomed by Mr. Drs. Maruap Siahaan, M.B.A, who wishes for the research collaboration between Undip FSM and PT. St. Morita Farma can pioneer the revival of Indonesian products internationally. The abundance of natural raw materials in Indonesia is a competitive advantage in developing cosmetic technology and is not necessarily owned by other countries.
In the discussion held after the signing, the Dean of FSM entrusted Prof. Dr. Parsaoran Siahaan, M.Si, and Prof. Dr. Dwi Hudiyanti, M.Sc, to lead the Undip FSM research team with PT St. Morita Farma. The research strategic plan will focus on increasing manufacturing efficiency and developing the Department of Chemistry’s research products to be applied in PT. St. Morita Farma’s cosmetic products are in stages. It is hoped that this strategic step can increase the interest of the Indonesian people, especially in Central Java, in using domestic cosmetic products.
