Mr. Muhammad Habibur Rahman, a 2017 alumnus graduate of the Mathematics undergraduate program at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Diponegoro University, completed his bachelor’s degree in 2021 and is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. After earning his undergraduate degree, he continued to both master’s and doctoral programs at KFUPM, supported by a fully funded scholarship that covered tuition fees, living allowance, and research and academic support.

During his academic journey, he has been actively involved as a research assistant and practicum instructor in programming courses, utilizing MATLAB and Python. One of the biggest challenges he faced was adapting to an international academic system while balancing time between studies, research, and teaching. A key turning point in his academic career was presenting his research findings in a thesis defence and academic poster competition—an experience that boosted his confidence and solidified his commitment to a career in academia.

The knowledge and experience he gained during his time at FSM UNDIP served as a strong foundation for his academic path. As a student, he actively worked as a practicum assistant, which honed his teaching and systematic thinking skills. He also served as Head of the ASMAT Bureau (Mathematics Student Association) in 2019, an experience that strengthened his communication skills and academic networking abilities. These experiences helped prepare him to pursue international academic studies with confidence and dedication.

As a message to current FSM UNDIP students, Mr. Habibur emphasizes that an academic journey is not just about chasing grades, but also about self-development, adaptability, and maximizing every learning opportunity. He emphasizes the importance of active involvement in labs, organizations, and collaborations with fellow students and faculty, as these experiences are crucial in developing the character and skills necessary for success in both academic and professional environments. He encourages students to stay motivated, not be afraid to try new things, and believe that hard work will lead to outstanding results.
