Mr. Amnan Haris, S.Si., M.Ling., an alumnus of the Biology Study Program at FSM UNDIP, class of 2014, is currently serving as a Lecturer in Environmental Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Born and raised in a small village in Demak Regency to a humble farming family, he was accustomed to helping his parents in the rice fields from an early age. These life experiences shaped his awareness and deep interest in environmental issues, particularly those related to agriculture.
His strong passion for learning led him to gain admission to FSM UNDIP through the SNMPTN track. During his undergraduate years, he was active not only academically but also in various student organisations such as Madani, Fostibi, Remas Undip, and the FSM Student Executive Board (BEM). He was the recipient of two prestigious scholarships: Bidikmisi and the Beastudi Etos scholarship from Dompet Dhuafa, both of which not only provided financial support but also helped shape his leadership skills and social awareness.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Mr. Amnan pursued a master’s degree in Environmental Science at the UNDIP Graduate School and graduated in 2021. His interest in agricultural environmental issues continued to grow, leading him to research weeds, organic fertilisers, and the development of Spirulina microalgae as a bioremediation agent for agricultural waste.
Shortly after completing his master’s degree, he passed the civil servant (CPNS) selection under the Ministry of Education and Culture and began his academic career as a lecturer at UNNES. He is now actively teaching and supervising students while also contributing to various programs, including PPK Ormawa, PKM, and community service initiatives.
“Others don’t need to know how hard you’ve worked—just prove that you can. If you fall, rise again. Don’t drown in sadness, because it will drain the positive energy from your body,” he advised FSM UNDIP students. His life journey from the rice fields of Demak to the laboratory and lecture halls is proof that with determination, discipline, and the blessings of our parents, anyone can become a source of inspiration and make meaningful contributions to the environment and society.
