Ms. Aldella Melati Kusumadani, a 2016 alumnus of the Mathematics undergraduate program at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Diponegoro University, earned her degree in 2020. After graduation, she faced a major challenge—job hunting during the COVID-19 pandemic. Six months later, she secured her first job as a Data Analyst at a technology company. This opportunity came as a result of her self-directed learning efforts to meet industry qualifications. Her consistency in learning and developing analytical skills was the key to opening doors in her career path.
From the beginning of her career, Ms. Aldella regularly evaluated her learning plan to ensure she stayed on the right track. That persistence led her to grow further in the tech industry, eventually securing a role as a Data Analyst at Gojek Indonesia. At Gojek, she has been entrusted multiple times to present project results during internal town hall sessions. She has also served as a speaker at events focusing on soft skill development and technology.
According to her, the mathematical knowledge she gained at FSM UNDIP played a crucial role in shaping her logical and analytical thinking. Additionally, her active involvement in campus organizations helped her develop essential soft skills, including adaptability, teamwork, and effective communication. She acknowledges that these experiences laid a strong foundation for facing challenges in her professional life.
In her closing message, Ms. Aldella reminds FSM UNDIP students to continually sharpen their communication skills, especially in English, to remain competitive in the job market. She also encourages students to build a vast network and foster good relationships with mentors aligned with their career aspirations. “Explore various roles in any project or activity to understand the big picture and how each division operates. Every experience, no matter how small, adds meaningful value to your career journey,” she advised.
