The Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) Universitas Diponegoro, through the Department of Informatics, successfully organized the Summer Course 2025 on August 18–24, 2025, carrying the theme “Discussion on Emerging Trends in Artificial Intelligence.” This activity is part of the World Class University (WCU) Program of FSM UNDIP, aimed at strengthening international networks, enhancing cross-country academic collaboration, and providing students with a global learning experience. The program was attended by 16 students and 1 accompanying lecturer from Universiti Malaysia Sabah Kampus Antarabangsa Labuan (UMSKAL) Faculty of Computing and Informatics, as well as students from FSM UNDIP.

The series of activities began with the participants’ reception at Yogyakarta International Airport on Monday, August 18, 2025. On the following day, August 19, participants joined the welcoming ceremony for new FSM UNDIP students, officially opened by the Dean of FSM, followed by campus orientation. The agenda was also enriched with sharing sessions together with the Informatics Student Association (HMIF) and the Student Executive Board (BEM) FSM.

The main academic program took place on August 20–21, 2025, in the form of an international seminar featuring speakers from UMSKAL and UNDIP. Dr. Mohammad Fadhli Bin Asli (UMSKAL) opened the session with a presentation on Artificial Intelligence, followed by Dr. Indra Waspada, S.T., M.TI. (UNDIP) on Process Mining, Dr. Retno Kusumaningrum, S.Si., M.Kom. (UNDIP) on Natural Language Processing, and Dr. Aris Puji Widodo, S.Si., M.T. (UNDIP) on AI Literacy for Software Developers. In addition to the seminar, participants also took part in a workshop entitled “Hands-on Data Visualization with Python.”

On August 22, 2025, participants joined an industrial visit to Indosat Semarang to gain firsthand insights into the implementation of digital technology in the telecommunication sector. Meanwhile, non-academic activities introduced Indonesian culture through visits to Batik Benang Raja, Queen City Mall, and Lawang Sewu, as well as cultural sharing sessions and a hiking trip to Mount Andong.

The Summer Course 2025 officially concluded on Sunday, August 24, 2025, with a closing ceremony at Widya Puraya Field, UNDIP.

The Person-in-Charge of the event, Henri Tantyoko, S.Kom., M.Kom., emphasized that this program was not only a platform for exchanging knowledge on the latest trends in Artificial Intelligence but also a means to strengthen friendship between Indonesian and Malaysian students. “We hope this program can foster a young generation that is adaptive, collaborative, and ready to face global challenges in science and technology,” he remarked.

Through this activity, FSM UNDIP reaffirms its commitment to advancing the internationalization of education, broadening students’ academic horizons, and promoting research collaboration. The Summer Course 2025 stands as a tangible implementation of the World Class University (WCU) Program of FSM UNDIP in its effort to enhance international competitiveness and academic reputation in the field of Artificial Intelligence and related sciences.
