Silver Medal at Malaysia Won by FSM Undip Team

Students from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Universitas Diponegoro, achieved a new international recognition. Two Informatics students, Lintang Aulia Nuraini and Birela Miadeta Purita, joined a cross-faculty team. Together, they won a Silver Medal at Malaysia during the MJIIX IRIC 2026 competition.

The team created the Smart Tactile Experiment Board. This prototype science device improves learning accessibility for visually impaired students.

The Global Stage of MJIIX IRIC 2026

The Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) organized this global event. Furthermore, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) hosted the participants in person on September 28, 2026. Innovation teams gathered at the Grand Banquet Hall, UTM Hotel & Residence, Kuala Lumpur.

During the competition, the UNDIP team presented their board through a physical poster showcase. Additionally, they gave a prototype demonstration to an international panel. The students explained their project background, technical solutions, and working mechanisms. Consequently, they highlighted sensor applications and future ideas for inclusive science practicum learning.

Designing the Smart Tactile Experiment Board

The Smart Tactile Experiment Board integrates tactile media with electronic components. Moreover, it connects these hardware pieces to a context-based learning support system. This device helps visually impaired students explore electrical circuits through touch. As a result, students complete practical learning activities without relying on visual observation.

Four talented students formed this development team. First, Fatih Muqtafi Liamrillah represents Electrical Engineering. Next, Lintang Aulia Nuraini and Birela Miadeta Purita represent Informatics. Finally, Fikri Ridhlo Fahlevy comes from Automation Engineering Technology. This interdisciplinary collaboration combined electronics, information technology, and learning media expertise to boost accessibility.

Attending MJIIX IRIC 2026 allowed the students to introduce their innovation worldwide. In addition, they received valuable feedback from the judges and exchanged ideas with diverse participants. This opportunity successfully broadened their academic experience and global innovation networks.
