Kharisma Andini Putri, a graduate of the Informatics Undergraduate Program at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) UNDIP, class of 2021 who graduated in 2025, is currently building her career as a state-owned enterprise employee at PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk. She serves as an Assistant Manager at the company’s headquarters in Central Jakarta. Her professional achievement proves that fresh graduates can possess strong competitiveness amid the highly selective recruitment process in the banking industry.
After graduating from FSM UNDIP, Kharisma actively searched and applied for jobs in various fields related to her academic background and skill set. During her job-hunting journey, she continuously worked on improving both her technical abilities and soft skills. She participated in numerous training programs, worked on independent projects, and enriched her self-development experiences to better prepare herself for the realities of professional life.
Her preparations eventually paid off when she was accepted into the Officer Development Program (ODP) at Bank BTN, which also became her first job after graduation. Initially, Kharisma assumed that most ODP participants would be fellow fresh graduates with little to no work experience. However, she soon realized that many of her peers already had professional experience and came from highly competitive backgrounds.
This competitive environment became a challenge for Kharisma, particularly in building self-confidence and adapting to a professional workplace. The challenge intensified when she was entrusted with the role of Core Banking Development Specialist. This strategic position required her to learn many things from scratch, as she previously had no specific experience related to banking systems or the programming languages used in the field. She had to quickly understand banking business processes, master core banking systems, and learn specialized programming languages for system development.

Rather than discouraging her, the situation became a turning point that motivated Kharisma to push herself further. She learned to adapt to a fast-paced environment while strengthening her problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills within the corporate ecosystem. During the initial orientation period in Cikeas, she even earned recognition as the participant with the highest score in mental and personality assessments. This achievement during the training phase became a memorable milestone that boosted her confidence and motivation to continue growing.
Before entering the professional world, Kharisma had already equipped herself with valuable experiences during university. She once served as a Capstone Team Lead in a technology-based system development project. In addition, her experience as a Database Management Laboratory Assistant helped her balance both technical and communication skills.
Kharisma strongly believes that FSM UNDIP played a significant role in building the foundation of her career. Throughout her studies, she did not merely learn theories in technology and data, but was also trained to develop logical and analytical thinking as well as problem-solving abilities. Practical sessions, teamwork, organizational involvement, and various campus projects all contributed greatly to shaping the soft skills that later proved crucial when she had to learn completely unfamiliar core banking systems. The dynamic learning environment at FSM also trained her to continuously learn and adapt, making her more prepared to face competitive challenges beyond campus life.
To FSM UNDIP students, Kharisma encourages them not to be afraid of trying new things and stepping outside their comfort zones during university life. She emphasized that today’s professional world is not solely focused on academic grades, but also values a person’s ability to learn, adapt, communicate, and collaborate within a team. “Make the most of your university years by gaining as many experiences as possible, whether through organizations, projects, training, internships, or competitions. All of these experiences will help shape your character and improve your readiness for the professional world,” she advised.
She also reminded students never to feel inferior or afraid of competition, reflecting on her own experience of once feeling left behind compared to other ODP participants. Kharisma firmly believes that everyone has their own process and timing. As long as there is a willingness to keep learning, striving, and growing, there will always be golden opportunities waiting in the future.
